THE GOOD FIGHT
DEATH, are u scared of death? The major reason why humans are scared to die is because we feel we haven’t finished what we have started here on earth, it’s because we feel there is still a lot to do and a lot of potentials yet to be discovered. As a matter of fact, many of us will gladly smile at the face of death when it comes because we have finished/fulfilled our destiny and we have nothing else to do.
You don’t believe me? Check out the book of 2nd Timothy 4:6 where Apostle Paul said and I quote-
“For I am now ready to be offered, and the time for my departure is at hand. I have fought the good fight, I have finished my course, and I have kept the faith”
Oh I love this, can you feel the confidence in that statement? Apostle Paul was very READY TO DIE and as a result he said he was ready to be offered (die) but why? Was he suffering from an incurable disease? No, let’s ask Brother Paul why
“…………………because I have fought the GOOD fight, I have FINISHED my course, I have KEPT the faith”
2nd Timothy 4:6
This is incredible and highly inspiring, he was ready and willing to die because he has FINISHED what he started on earth and not just finished, he has also fought the GOOD fight, meaning he could have fought the BAD fight, he could have invested his talents and potentials in the wrong place but NO! he didn’t. Another thing you need to notice from the text is that he said he has fought THE good fight and not A good fight, do you know what that means? It is not just about fighting A fight that is good, it is discovering THE good fight you have been equipped to fight. Trust me every good and bad fight needs hard work but discovering the THE fight you have been equipped for makes it more simple and possible to win. We all have to find that GOOD FIGHT we have been destined to fight and fight it till we can boldly say “I am now ready to be offered, and the time for my departure is at hand. I have fought the good fight, I have finished my course” but until then keep pressing on, keep fighting, keep working hard and keep holding on to that FAITH just like Apostle Paul did. There is a book written for each of us just like a user manual that comes with a new smart phone telling us what the phone can do and for every different types of phones, each of them has an entirely different manual. You need to find THE book written for you, not just ANY book in order to finish your fight. Another wonderful person, with the name JESUS is a very good example of a Man who fought the good fight and finished his destiny and you know why? It’s because he found THE place for him.
“and there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found THE place where it was written……”
Luke 4:17
This is another amazing text in the Bible, take note! It never said Jesus found A place, it says he found THE place. Oh, so there is a place he needs to find not just any place and what does this place says?
“The spirit of the lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor, he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind , to set at liberty them that are bruised, to preach the acceptable year of the lord”
Luke 4:18-19
Wow, the place gave him a clear description of what he has been sent to earth to do; the place summarized the life of Jesus. The place strictly told him the problems he was designed to solve and the FIGHT he was on earth to fight, and glory be to GOD he fought this fight well and finished it.
This brings me to the summary of what this whole article is all about: The very first step in living a fulfilled life and dying a great Man or Woman is discovering your purpose in life.
So, do you want to look at death right in the face and boldly say “I am ready” then discover that problem you have been created to solve, find that place in the book of destinies that have been written for you, find that fight that you have been equipped to fight and fight THE GOOD FIGHT because my brothers/sisters YOU ONLY LIVE ONCE.
